The new Town Team group is being formed to encourage Chambers members, based in the High Street, to share their in order to increase revenue and profits.
We’ve managed to get on board Mike Bell, a retired retail specialist who worked for many years with BAA (the airport company) most recently as President of BAA USA. Mike is willing to work with a group of committed retailers in the town to build the town’s natural advantages and to enhance the retail prospects through a series of 1:1 sessions and team meetings.
This new approach is in response to the challenging economic climate and the urgent need to increase footfall in the town.
The recent Chamber AGM voted to create a Town Team, based on the recommendations of the Mary Portas report. This team will consist of retailers within the town working together to develop their own businesses and think in terms of Midsomer Norton as a ‘department store’ where each outlet’s success is influenced by the performance of the whole.
At the first meeting,Mike Bell, will be giving a brief overview of the approach he is proposing with a chance for questions and discussion afterwards. This meeting will be different. There will be no slides, it’s not an opportunity to sit back – it will be all about what each business can do to increase sales.
