B&NES recently announced plans to expand the amount of business centre space in Midsomer Norton based on a £1.3 million investment.
The existing 5,000 sq ft centre in Radstock Road is owned by B&NES and sublet to Business West which manages the office space and conference centre.
There are currently 16 businesses on the Radstock Road site which employ 150 people. The council’s cabinet has included plans for the cash boost in this year’s budget proposals in the hope of helping create up to 100 new jobs by helping small businesses and budding entrepreneurs.
If a feasibility study and business case proves favourable and the plans are given the go-ahead the centre will be increased by 100%.
The Chamber welcomes the move but it remains to be seen how the existing centre could be extended as their no obvious space to build either an extension or provide the necessary additional parking.
